Frequently asked questions
What is Prelude?
Prelude is a voice-first reflection experience that helps you surface themes and generate a structured brief to bring to therapy. It is a preparation tool—not therapy itself.
Is Prelude therapy?
No. Prelude does not diagnose or treat conditions. For clinical care, work with a licensed professional in your area.
Who can use the iOS app?
Prelude for iPhone requires a device that supports Apple Intelligence (for example iPhone 15 Pro and later, with the OS version required by the App Store listing). Check the App Store page for the current minimum requirements.
Where does my data go?
On iPhone: Your reflection content stays on your device; Prelude does not receive or store your sessions on our servers as described in our privacy policy. On the web: If you use Prelude in a browser, practices may differ—see the privacy policy.
Why does Prelude need the microphone?
Sessions are voice-first. On iOS, audio and speech recognition are processed on-device using Apple’s frameworks, consistent with the system permissions you approve.
How do I delete my data?
In the app, open Settings and use the option to clear local data (for example “clear all data”). That removes stored reflections on your device.
What if I’m in crisis?
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. In the United States, you can call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Prelude is not for emergencies.
How do I report a bug?
Email ugo@echovault.me with your device model, iOS version, what you expected, and what happened.
